Building an Open Source project in 2021

In 2009 I released my first open-source project, wpClassifieds. A WordPress theme to create a classified ads website. It had relatively good popularity and was used by a few hundred WordPress sites. Unfortunately, I was still finishing my Mathematics degree and couldn't maintain the project for much longer.

Ten years later, I'm starting a little side project built on Laravel, LaRomaCondesa, a real estate website where estate owners or promoters can list their properties on a couple of trending Mexico City neighborhoods. Then I thought it could be useful to others to have a Laravel package that could save time to build a similar project—the same spirit as before.

This post is the beginning of my journey in the open-source world (again). Lots of things to learn on the way, so let's have fun!
